Underground mining is a tough job that requires unique machinery. This 672D was needed to maintain the slope of one of North America’s deepest mines. The challenge? A maximum clearance height of 6’10” and a request to use the original cab. Everything from the cab to the steering controls to the heating ducts were removed and rebuilt to create a machine that couldn’t have been built by anyone else. Another project in Sudbury, ON saw a machine completely disassembled, taken down an open mine shaft piece by piece, and welded back together underground.
