Growing with Deere

Eddie Huggins spent much of his life andwork with land development companies.His career began as a heavy constructionequipment operator and later he moved toa supervisory role. He began his own company,The Eddie Huggins Land Grading Co., LLC, based in Stuart, Florida, in 1990.

He started small with two employees:himself and one other person. By Julyof that year, he had 10 employees. Aftersteady growth, the company currentlyemploys more than 80 people. Accordingto Eddie, every employee is key to thesuccess of his business. “Not just one employee is key,”said Eddie. “Our employees are a core group and a team.They’re a fine-tuned machine that makes the businesswhat it is.”

The Eddie Huggins Land Grading Co. is known for beingable to perform large projects on short notice. They do 60percent commercial work and 40 percent residential workand are able to supply a complete site development packageincluding clearing, utilities, input filling, and paving.The company is loyal to John Deere with 75 percent oftheir fleet being Deere products and 25 percent beingon-road dump trucks/roll-off trucks. “We like dealingwith Nortrax because of the personalization,” Eddie said.“Having one point of contact for our needs is very importantand good communication has been maintained. We’revery happy.”

The company currently has jobs from Arcadia to PalmCoast and are soon opening up offices in Lake Worth, FLand Sarasota, FL.
