Kingsbury Companies LLC
Travis J. Kingsbury, owner of Kingsbury Companies, LLC, says his company prides itself on
their expansive capabilities within the heavy civil arena, offering all facets of the process
including self-performance, construction management, engineering and design.

Equipment and Service Fit for a King

Travis J. Kingsbury (also known as TJ) grew up in Vermont working in his family’s excavation business before obtaining his Construction Management degree in 2002 from Montana State University in Bozeman. While in Montana, he worked as a project engineer and superintendent for Barnard Construction Company. After graduation, he took jobs in California, Florida, and South Carolina constructing multi-million dollar dams and water distribution projects until returning home in the fall of 2003. Once back in Vermont, he began working as Vice President of Operations for the family business of Kingsbury Construction Co. while organizing a solid management team.

Going It Alone

In 2008, Travis opened his own business, Kingsbury Companies, LLC, in Waitsfield, Vermont, to focus on heavy civil construction projects in larger geographic regions. Since then the Kingsbury team has grown exponentially as a general contractor specializing in heavy civil projects across New England. The company prides itself in its expansive capabilities within the heavy civil arena, offering all facets of the process including self-performance, construction management, engineering, and design.

Kingsbury’s fleet currently consists of 47 percent John Deere equipment including a 700K Dozer, 130G, 250G, and 245G LC Excavators, a Hitachi Z50 Excavator, two 624Ks and 544J Loaders. “The John Deere brand has been part of my life since the beginning and has a strong American heritage,” said TJ. “The people at John Deere are always willing to work with you and JD Link has been a great tool for the company.”

TJ further describes his experience about doing business with Nortrax stating, “Nortrax provides a comprehensive line of heavy equipment to meet our needs with multiple locations throughout New England. Their maintenance team has always been very responsive.”

Keeping Busy

TJ is a man who likes to keep busy. He not only successfully manages to run a business with more than 70 employees but served as past president for the Vermont Agency of General Contractors in 2014 and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Green Mountain Valley School in Waitsfield. He is also a doting husband and father to three boys under the age of four.
