Borden Excavating

Borden Excavating was born in 1995 in Merrifield, Minnesota; the brain child of one man, a skidsteer, and a homemade trailer. Matt Borden’s first jobs consisted of working in the fields of local farmers, picking rocks that he would sell for landscaping. “I made my first year’s payments picking rock,” he said.

Matt’s work began to expand when he installed a new septic system for his wife (then-girlfriend), Coralea’s, parents.

Since then, he takes on various types of projects that come his way instead of specializing in one type of work. Matt likes to take on work that challenges him. So far, this work includes residential, commercial, underground, demolition, township grading, road construction, and lot clearing, just to name a few. His current equipment fleet is 100% John Deere from his 350DLC Excavator down to his pressure washer and air compressor.

“I run John Deere because of the reliability of the equipment,” he explained. Not only is the equipment that Deere builds reliable, but it is also efficient allowing me to get my jobs done in a timely manner,” he noted. “And I like dealing with Nortrax because of their commitment to the construction industry.”

In the off season, Matt and his family spend their time ice racing cars. Matt enjoys racing cars in the winter because it allows him to spend time with his family.
